The Horsehead Nebula (H-Alpha+RGB)

The dark cloud of dust that is the familiar Horsehead Nebula is also known as Barnard 33. This dark clould stands out against the bright background of emitted light from the complex known as IC 434 that lies behind the Horsehead. IC 434 is illuminated by light from the nearby star Sigma Orionis (out of frame). The H-Alpha data was captured from my home site in Indialantic on February 06-07, 2007 and the RGB data was captured at the Chiefland Astronomy Village on February 19-20, 2007.
